Tree at Iken

£50 unframed £70 framed includes poem on the back(plus postage and packaging)

Anyone walking the path between Iken and Snape Maltings will recognise the birch trees that seem to grow from nowhere among the reeds. In autumn and winter they stand proud against the Suffolk skyline.

I hope my poem for this drawing captures its magic

“Reaching tall,
Arms outstretched above muddy reeds,
Saluting the sky. R
Receding waters
Shine a path
Between waving wands, as clouds float past”

St Botolph’s Church Iken, built, they say on the site of the saint’s monastery established in AD654. It is still an outpost of Christianity overlooking the River Alde.

£50 unframed £70 framed includes poem on the back(plus postage and packaging)

A poem accompanies the drawing

“A stone-walled sentinel,
Mournfully presides,
Reflections of soul and mirrored sky.
Centuries faithful come to pray
Whilst supplicants raise their
Weathered palms to Heaven’s reaches””A stone-walled sentinel, Mournfully presides, Reflections of soul and mirrored sky. Centuries faithful come to pray Whilst supplicants raise their Weathered palms to Heaven’s reaches”

Cygnet among the reeds

Poem

“Sails furled,
Gliding through sunlit reeds
On rising droplets of liquid silver
She glides forwards.
Wind’s breath rustles feathers
That caress the skies above”
